Moms For America Welcomes Gold Star Mother Karen Vaughn as Vice President

OMAHA – Moms for America President Kimberly Fletcher is pleased to announce Karen Vaughn joins the organization as vice president. Vaughn is a passionate patriot who knows what it means to defend America and her ideals. Her son, Aaron, was a Navy SEAL Team VI member who was killed on duty Afghanistan in 2011.

“A wife, mother, and grandmother of six, Karen’s passion is carrying on the legacy of her son Aaron,” said Kimberly Fletcher, MFA president. “Gold Star families understand honor and duty first hand. I know Karen will bring the same intensity and dedication to the vital work of Moms for America that she brought to raising her family, and we are excited to have her on board at this critical time for Moms for America and for our country!”

Vaughn is the mother of fallen US Navy SEAL Aaron Carson Vaughn. On August 6, 2011 Aaron was killed in action in the Tangi River Valley of Afghanistan when a helo carrying thirty Americans was shot from the sky while on a mission against a high-level Taliban terrorist. Seventeen SEALs were among the 30 total US military personnel killed in the operation.

Over the past seven years, she has become a powerful voice for our defenders on foreign soil and their families back home. Vaughn has also emerged as a clear-minded, resolute advocate for a better, stronger, more resilient America.

“Our fighting men and women are sacrificing everything up to and including their lives to keep us free,” Vaughn said. “They swear an oath to uphold and defend the Constitution. The least we can do is support the Constitution against the left’s relentless assaults on it. Moms for America recognizes the vital role of motherhood in keeping America free, and I am proud to join the cause.”
